Hospitals Reporting Magnet Status to the 2011 Leapfrog Hospital Survey
The Magnet Recognition Program® was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to recognize hospitals and other healthcare organizations that provide nursing excellence. Recognizing quality patient care, nursing excellence, and innovations in professional nursing practice, the Magnet Recognition Program provides consumers with a reliable benchmark to measure the quality of care that they can expect to receive.
On the 2011 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, hospitals that indicate they have current Magnet® status, as determined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) will automatically earn full credit for Safe Practice #9 Nursing Workforce. This section of the survey is used to score hospitals on their commitment to staffing their hospitals with highly trained nurses and putting those nurses in leadership positions which allow them to have substantial input into patient safety issues.
