Why did your organization decide to apply to become a Leapfrog Regional Roll-Out leader? We became members of Leapfrog in an effort to improve transparency, access and quality of care to our members and others served by the targeted hospitals in the Triangle. By educating our members on how to become savvier consumers of health care, hospitals become more accountable for the care they provide. This raises standards of quality and efficiency, which in turn lowers the overall cost of health care in our hospitals. In your view, what kind of impact has Leapfrog had on your market thus far? With 85.7% of our targeted hospitals participating in the Leapfrog Hospital Quality and Safety Survey, we have opened the door to accountability, encouraging hospitals to evaluate their current standards of quality and safety, which in turn allows them to review and improve upon their own best practices. The process allows each hospital to learn not only from its own experience, but it also creates a forum from which the hospitals learn from each other.
