Foundations/Grantmakers

Grantmakers in Health is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to helping foundations and corporate giving programs improve the health of all people. The American Hospital Directory provides online data for over 6,000 hospitals. Their database of information about hospitals is built from both public and private sources including Medicare claims data (MedPAR and OPPS), hospital cost reports, and other files obtained from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). www.ahd.com

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities.  www.aha.org

Consumer Organizations

The Consumer Coalition was formed in 1993 to focus attention on quality and consumer issues within the context of federal health care reform. www.consumers.org

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. www.jointcommission.org
