First Million Paid Out Through the Leapfrog Hospital Rewards Program

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has awarded a total of $980,000 to eight New Jersey hospitals for their participation in the Leapfrog Hospital Rewards Program™. The awards were provided as part of the Horizon Hospital Recognition Program, which provides financial and public recognition to New Jersey hospitals for performance excellence and performance improvements in clinical quality, patient safety, and overall efficacy of care. Horizon BCBSNJ uses the Leapfrog Hospital Rewards Program™ as one of two ways hospitals can participate in its recognition program. 

The Leapfrog Group commends these eight hospitals for their dedication to the high bar of performance set by the Leapfrog Hospital Rewards Program™:

• Christ Hospital
• Cooper University Hospital
• Deborah Heart & Lung Center
• Englewood Hospital & Medical Center
• Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (New Brunswick)
• Somerset Medical Center
• The Valley Hospital
• University Medical Center at Princeton

Leapfrog is also thrilled to announce that five more New Jersey hospitals have chosen the Leapfrog Hospital Rewards Program™ option as their vector for participation in the Horizon Hospital Recognition Program in 2007:

• Hackensack University Medical Center
• Hunterdon Medical Center
• Morristown Memorial Hospital
• Overlook Hospital
• Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (Hamilton)
