The Leapfrog Group Invites Public Comment on the 2010 Leapfrog Hospital Survey
Each year, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey is updated to reflect new learning about quality and safety measures and the best way to structure the Survey instrument. The Leapfrog Group is designing the 2010 Leapfrog Hospital Survey to primarily be a refresh of the 2009 survey, with a continued focus on those measures that have the greatest impact on improving quality and saving costs.
Until the close of business on November 30, 2009, Leapfrog invites the public to comment on the proposed changes to the 2010 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Highlights of the proposed changes include:
-
Re-organized survey documentation by the section of the survey, to match the order of the survey questions;
-
Possible opportunities for ’rural’ hospitals to earn additional credit for having in place 24-hour/7-day-a-week teleintensivist coverage;
-
Potential removal of the ’beta blocker at discharge’ process measure for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair patients;
-
A preview of a potential new survey section (for future surveys) that focuses on safe surgical scheduling.

The public comment period on the proposed changes to the 2010 Leapfrog Hospital Survey is now closed. Thank you for providing feedback. The Leapfrog Group’s responses to the comments we received during the public comment period have been posted here.
