AHRQ Grant for Leapfrog

Leapfrog has received almost $400,000 of grant funding from the Agency for Health Research and Quality to provide technical assistance and evaluation service for six pay for performance pilots from around the country.  This is the third year of the pilots.

The pilots are: GE, Verizon, and Hannaford Brothers in Albany-Schenectady, NY; Boeing, nationwide; Healthcare 21 in Eastern TN; Blue Shield of CA; the Buyers Health Care Action Group in MN; and Maine Health Management Coalition.  The overall aim of this project is to help these pilots design, implement and test the effectiveness of incentive and reward programs that payers (purchasers and health plans) can use to motivate health care providers (hospitals and physicians) to speed implementation of Leapfrog’s recommended quality and safety practices and motivate consumers to choose those providers with Leapfrog’s practices in place.

For more information on the pilots contact Greg Belden, Director, Regional Implementation, (gbelden@leapfroggroup.org or 202-292-6708)
