The first annual Leapfrog ASC Survey on patient safety and quality is free and open to ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) from April 1 to November 30. Like the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, there is never a cost to participate in the Leapfrog ASC Survey, which will assess the safety, quality, and efficiency of ASCs based on measures that are of specific interest to employers, health care purchasers and, consumers. The measures also provide ASCs the opportunity to benchmark their progress in improving the care they deliver.

The Leapfrog Group Expands Ratings to Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Settings
The Leapfrog Group recently announced the expansion of its public reporting to outpatient settings. For the first time, Leapfrog will collect safety data on ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) through a new voluntary survey. In addition, hospital outpatient surgery departments will report similar data through a new section of the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Both surveys will open in April 2019.
Why the Leapfrog ASC Survey Matters to Purchasers
“With the convenience and growing use of ambulatory surgery centers, patients are able to access cost effective alternatives to inpatient care. But how do employers, employees and family members know which outpatient facilities to choose from? The Leapfrog Group just made this a little easier. In addition to offering public reporting for hospital quality and safety nationwide, the same information will be available on outpatient care. This matters because patients need guidance in finding the safest facilities with the highest quality care -- which benefits employers and the people they care about the most.” - Cheryl Larson, President and CEO, Midwest Business Group on Health
