Dr. Allison Lu, MD

Patient Safety Officer and Assistant Chief Quality Officer, Los Angeles General Medical Center

Dr. Allison Luu is the Patient Safety Officer and Assistant Chief Quality Officer at Los Angeles General Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine. She is focused on advancing safe, equitable, and high-reliability care in safety-net health systems. Dr. Luu directs multiple hospital-wide quality and leadership programs, including the Health System Leader Fellowship and Healthcare Administration Scholars Program for physicians in training, and leads institutional efforts in patient safety, culture of safety, and performance improvement. She teaches several classes and courses at the Keck School of Medicine in Quality, Safety, and Physician Leadership and she is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

Bill Scharf, MD

Executive Clinical Director of Quality and Safety, Advent Health

William R. Scharf, M.D., is the Executive Clinical Director of Quality and Safety at AdventHealth. He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and received a medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Scharf received postdoctoral training in general surgery from the University of Illinois Hospital, Cook County Hospital, and the West Side Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Chicago. He completed residency in general surgery at The Ohio State University. He was a surgeon with the OSF Medical Group in Pontiac, Illinois from 1993-2007. From 2007-2018, he was a Physician Change Agent at OSF HealthCare. Since 2018, he has been involved in Quality, Patient Safety, and Accreditation activities in AdventHealth, a nonprofit faith-based system with over 50 hospitals in nine states. Dr. Scharf has been a member of the Leapfrog Group Advisory Board since 2018. He served on the National Steering Committee for Patient Safety to develop “Safer Together”, a joint effort between the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI). He has worked on many quality initiatives with the Illinois Health and Hospital Association, the Illinois Surgical Quality Improvement Collaborative, the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative, and the Florida Hospital Association.

Judy Henderson, M.S.A.H.-M, R.N., CPHQ

Judy Henderson has 35 years of healthcare expertise, spanning nursing and leadership roles across the care continuum. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded complex process improvement initiatives within large organizations while driving transformative changes. Her unwavering passion for enhancing healthcare quality and safety fuels her relentless pursuit of excellence. She has been recognized as Leader of the Year and Process Improvement Project of the Year. She has served on the St. Louis Chapter of Healthcare Businesswomen Association and currently serves as the Education Director on the Association for Healthcare Quality of Arizona. Today, she is the Quality Administrator at Mayo Clinic Arizona where Quality, Safety and Experience are ranked top decile in the country. Notable achievements include Top Honor Roll in US News and World Report, Leapfrog Grade A, HCAHPS and CMS Overall Best Hospital 5 Star, and Healthgrades Triple Crown.

Tyler Jones

Senior Associate Consultant, Conner Strong

Tyler Jones, Senior Associate Consultant at Conner Strong & Buckelew has been deeply immersed in the healthcare industry since the beginning of his professional career. In his current role, Tyler is responsible for managing regional and national healthcare systems’ and providers’ employee benefits plans. This includes developing healthcare strategy at the employee health plan level, and subsequently the enterprise level for some of Pennsylvania and New Jersey’s largest healthcare systems and leading national healthcare specialists. Through his passion for driving change with population health data analytics, Tyler has worked alongside seasoned business and healthcare professionals to develop preventive care strategies and chronic disease management programs for populations exceeding 50,000 lives. Tyler is a graduate of Temple University’s Fox School of Business with an undergraduate degree in Risk Management & Insurance – Healthcare Management focus. He is responsible for founding the undergraduate subsector of the Temple University Health Leadership Organization after recognizing the need for undergraduate engagement in professional development for up-and-coming healthcare professionals. He also served as an Officer of Professional Development in the business fraternity Gamma Iota Sigma, an organization regarded as the golden-standard for student run, university-affiliated organizations in the country. In this role he created the Healthcare Management Committee where he coordinated opportunities of engagement with some of the Philadelphia region’s leading healthcare business professionals and clinicians. Tyler is also an alumni of the Leapfrog Bruce Bradley Fellowship.
