Webinar: International Infection Prevention Experts Discuss Hand Hygiene

Hand hygiene compliance is a key quality measure for infection prevention and control programs, patient safety, and quality of health services worldwide. It is one of the most simple and effective measures to reduce healthcare associated infections (HAIs). However, compliance rates are as low as 6% - 14% when assessed by both the WHO 5 moments and 6-step hand hygiene technique, and as much as 50% of avoidable infections are caused by poor hand hygiene.
This session examined how hand hygiene compliance is measured, real-world challenges of hand hygiene, trends and future developments including the new international standard for hand hygiene, and the role technology can play in helping hospitals achieve compliance of hand hygiene standards.

Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Policy Briefing: Advancing Quality, Safety, and Public Reporting
Join leadership from Leapfrog and Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) for an informational webinar on Leapfrog's national efforts to advance patient safety and quality measurement and public reporting in ambulatory surgery centers. The webinar will address how the Outpatient Surgery Quality and Access Act of 2021 seeks to further align available quality measures for surgery centers and hospital outpatient departments, and address payment and patient access issues. Leapfrog's Never Events Policy and the PACT Collaborative Resources and Tools
Learn about Leapfrog's Never Events Policy, along with publicly available tools for communications and resolution programs. Jean-Luc Tilly and Robyn Nabi from The Leapfrog Group will present Leapfrog's Never Events Policy, including the individual elements with a planned update for 2023, and a review of scoring and national performance on this measure. Tom Gallagher, MD, Executive Director of the Collaborative for Accountability and Improvement and co-lead of the Pathway to Accountability, Compassion, and Transparency (PACT) Collaborative will introduce participants to new publicly available tools to guide hospitals as they design and implement communication and resolution programs (CRP).

Are Employers Satisfied that Health Plans Drive Quality, Safety, and Value?
Leapfrog president and CEO Leah Binder presents the findings from new Leapfrog survey aimed to gain employer perspectives on health plan effectiveness in achieving health care quality, safety, and value. Employer leaders from The Boeing Company and Northwestern Mutual discuss the impact of the results. Leapfrog first administered and reported the survey results in 2020, so this year’s report serves as an update to see if any progress has been made over the last two years.
Mental Health Parity under CAA leaves many employers concerned as they try to comply with the law and its little to no guidance. Under the January 2022 Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) of 2008 report to Congress, the Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (DOL EBSA) found that no plan provided sufficient comparative analyses in its audit process, leaving many to wonder “are we next?” Will mental health parity audits continue into 2023 and will there be more than in 2022? What exactly does DOL want from plans or hope to know from the audits?
