Universal Nasal Decolonization: An Unexpected Solution to Hospital Staffing and Financial Concerns
October 3, 2023 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM ET
View the toolkit here.
Today’s healthcare leaders are wrestling with a variety of issues, with staffing shortages and financial concerns being at the forefront. While many are looking to the latest software or AI to help with these problems, some are embracing a simpler approach – universal nasal decolonization. This infection prevention strategy is helping to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and related readmissions.
Facilities employing evidence-based nasal decolonization can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in avoided uncompensated treatment cost and millions in additional revenue generated from increased capacity resulting from reduced lengths of stay. Learn what innovators are doing and the results they are reporting, with no capital expense and no software to buy or implement. Hear from two of the nation’s leading infection preventionists on how this work can improve financial outcomes and hospital staffing.

September 7, 2023; 12:00 PM- 1:00 PM ET
View the toolkit here.
Hand hygiene compliance is a key quality measure for infection prevention and control programs, patient safety, and quality of health services worldwide. It is one of the most simple and effective measures to reduce healthcare associated infections (HAIs). However, compliance rates are as low as 6% - 14% when assessed by both the WHO 5 moments and 6-step hand hygiene technique, and as much as 50% of avoidable infections are caused by poor hand hygiene.
This session examined how hand hygiene compliance is measured, real-world challenges of hand hygiene, trends and future developments including the new international standard for hand hygiene, and the role technology can play in helping hospitals achieve compliance of hand hygiene standards.
