Bruce Bradley Fellowship Spotlight: Donita Doubet, GPHR, SPHR
Throughout my career in employee benefits—spanning organizations like American Airlines and Bell Helicopter (now Bell Flight)—I’ve seen firsthand the profound impact that health care benefits have on employees and their families. I’ve also experienced the ongoing challenge employers face in balancing quality, safety and affordability when it comes to health care. This intersection is where I found my passion: creating meaningful, data-informed strategies that improve health outcomes and empower people to make better decisions.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a board member of the DFW Business Group on Health (DFWBGH), a regional employer coalition committed to advancing health care value in North Texas. DFWBGH promotes health care quality, efficiency, affordability, transparency and accountability—with patient safety as a focus. The organization has also served as a Regional Leader for The Leapfrog Group since its inception 25 years ago.
My introduction to Leapfrog through DFWBGH was a turning point. I saw how clear, objective data could drive not only awareness but action. More recently, I’ve had the opportunity to incorporate Leapfrog safety data into hospital report cards—tools I’ve used to engage employer-leaders in conversations about safety ratings and care quality when selecting hospital networks. It's been incredibly rewarding to witness how data can empower organizations to make informed decisions that ripple across the community.
Beyond employer strategy, I’ve also focused on delivering actionable health care information directly to employees/patients. Whether it's sharing Leapfrog hospital grades or coalition data on hospital fair pricing, I’m committed to making complex information accessible and useful for individual care decisions.
The Bruce Bradley Fellowship represents an exciting next step in my journey. It’s an opportunity to broaden my toolkit, strengthen my advocacy and deepen my impact—both in my current roles and in future opportunities to influence change. In North Texas alone, 78 hospitals operate in the region, yet only 56% voluntarily complete the annual Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Through continued partnership, education and outreach, I hope to increase that number and help hospitals leverage Leapfrog’s tools to improve patient safety and care.
One standout example is Leapfrog’s recent collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality to host its first-ever Best Practices Poster Session at the 2024 Leapfrog Annual Meeting. This initiative gave hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) a platform to showcase real-world solutions tied to Leapfrog’s survey standards. I’ve been actively sharing the presentation materials with hospital contacts who couldn’t attend—because powerful ideas deserve to be seen and shared.
One of our hospitals, Texas Health Huguley Hospital, was selected for the Poster Session.

My diverse experiences have shown me the critical need for advocates who can connect knowledge, networks and decision-makers to drive progress. As a Bruce Bradley Fellow, I’m eager to take on that role with even more insight, energy and purpose—helping The Leapfrog Group advance its mission to promote safety, quality and transparency in American health care.
