Leapfrog Partners Advisory Committee July 2025 Roundup

July 29, 2025

Dave Hines, Executive Vice President of Sales, Nozin; Celeste Chandonnet, Clinical Director, Marketing, Mölnlycke Health Care; and Denise Venditti, Chief Nursing Officer & Principal Healthcare Industry Advisor, Qualtrics, participate in a discussion at the June 2025 Partners Advisory Committee Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.

In 2009, Leapfrog formed the Partners Advisory Committee (PAC), an exclusive group of national and regional health plans, hospital systems, and enterprise vendors. These organizations advise Leapfrog on key industry trends and collaborate on a number of partner-driven initiatives.  PAC members, recognizing the importance of Leapfrog’s mission—and the critical need to prioritize patient safety now more than ever—have been hard at work educating the health care community about hidden risks to patients and how facilities can take action to improve safety.

The momentum continues

Webinars

The Leapfrog Innovators Webinar series rolled into May with a conversation sponsored by Ovation Health about “Exploring the Link Between Healthcare Strategy and Experience of Care”. On June 24, the Inovalon webinar topic was “Building a Safer System:  The Role of Culture, Trigger Tools and AI”. You can view these, as well as previous webinars, here

Workgroups

One of the most popular benefits of PAC membership is participation in the workgroups. Currently, the PAC has two groups that offer insight into topics impacting the health care field: Never Events and Environment of Care (EVS). Never Events are 29 types of events that should never happen in health care (according to the National Quality Forum). One example of a never event is wrong site surgery. While rare, sometimes wrong site surgery does happen and the protocol around payment and follow up care is not standardized. The Never Events workgroup has been soliciting feedback on their wrong site surgery recommendations. These recommendations will be open for public comment soon.

The EVS workgroup focuses on environmental factors in health care such as air, water and surfaces. Proper cleaning and maintenance of these items is critical to patient safety. The group continues to post content on the Hiding in Plain Site LinkedIn page. Check out a leadership conversation on mattress safety or an article that reminds us about c. diff transmission in the ICU.

June PAC Meeting

The first in-person PAC meeting of 2025 took place on June 25. During meetings, PAC members get carefully curated content on topics that impact their customer base as well as access to leading experts. One very popular session at this meeting was “A Human-Factors Approach to Technology and Patient Safety.”  The PAC learned about what types of errors happen and how to better design products to eliminate errors. The group also heard about the latest changes at the federal level that will impact health care. One highlight of every PAC meeting is the opportunity to network with their peers.

You can learn more about PAC members here. PAC members offer critical support to help Leapfrog achieve its mission of making giant leaps forward to improve patient safety and we are grateful for their support.
