National Pilot Survey

Welcome to the Diagnostic Excellence Pilot Survey!

This section of the website is for hospitals participating in Leapfrog’s Diagnostic Excellence Diagnosis Pilot, an initiative of the Recognizing Excellence in Diagnosis Project.

The Recognizing Excellence in Diagnosis Pilot includes two components:

1. Pilot Survey – The Pilot Survey is designed to assess your hospital’s familiarity with and progress towards implementing the recommended practices published in the Recognizing Excellence in Diagnosis: Recommended Practices for Hospitals report published by Leapfrog in July 2022. Each hospital participating in the pilot is assigned to report either on the sixteen recommended practices from Domain 1: Leadership Structures & Systems or the thirteen practices from Domain 2: The Diagnostic Process.  

2. Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine’s (SIDM’s) Playbook Testing – The SIDM Playbook is designed to help hospitals implement one of the recommended practices in the report focused on patient engagement. Each hospital participating in the pilot that has a Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is asked to review the Playbook, which has three parts, and to provide feedback on the usability, clarity, and effectiveness.

Interested in asking questions now that you've had a chance to review the Pilot materials? Please join any one of our three informal "Office Hour" style sessions to ask your questions. You can stay for five minutes or for the entire time. These office hours are for you and Leapfrog staff will be on the call the help. We are holding the office hours during the following times:

 

Important Dates

November 4

Pilot opens!

Pilot hospitals received a link to the hard copy of the Diagnostic Excellence Pilot Survey (either Domain 1 or Domaine 2) and a link to Qualtrics.

Hospitals also received the SIDM Playbook materials for testing.

December 31

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

Pilot hospitals must submit their Diagnostic Excellence Pilot Survey via Qualtrics and SIDM Playbook testing feedback (if applicable) by midnight EST on December 31, 2022.

If your hospital does not submit the Pilot Survey via Qualtrics by December 31, you will not receive a confidential benchmarking report or be included in the national report.

January 2023 Pilot hospitals are invited to attend one of five (5) virtual roundtables to provide additional feedback on either the recommended practices included in the Pilot Survey, or the SIDM Playbook. Registration links available in Qualtrics or by contacting the Help Desk.
March 2023

Pilot hospitals that submitted the Pilot Survey via Qualtrics by December 31, 2022 will receive a confidential benchmarking report.

June 2023 The Leapfrog Group will publish a national report based on aggregate results from the Diagnostic Excellence Pilot Survey.

The Help Desk is available to provide your hospital with technical assistance and answers to questions Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ET. Help Desk support staff typically respond to inquiries within 1-2 business days (see Help Desk Holiday Schedule for planned closures).

FAQs

I did not receive a link to the Pilot Survey for my hospital. Can you send me another link? 

Yes, contact the Help Desk with your hospital’s name, address, and CCN.

Can our hospital provide feedback on the SIDM Playbook​ materials if I did not let Leapfrog know that we have a PFAC?

Yes, absolutely. Leapfrog encourages all hospitals with a PFAC, or who are thinking of starting a PFAC, to test the Playbook and provide feedback in the Playbook Testing Instructions and Feedback Form.

Will my hospital's responses to the Leapfrog Pilot Survey be scored and publicly reported?

No, responses to the Pilot Survey will not be scored or publicly reported. Responses will be used in confidential benchmarking reports for pilot participants and aggregated for a national report published in March 2023.

Do I need to collect hospital data to report on the Pilot Survey?

No. The recommended practices on the Survey are focused on processes or structures (like the NQF Safe Practices). Therefore, there is no quantitative data collection associated with participation in the pilot. You may, however, need to identify individuals who have knowledge or information about your hospital’s implementation progress, but we expect the time commitment to gather this information to be very limited (e.g., days not weeks).
